Bodegas Carpe Diem was born as a result of the acquisition of the historic Scholz Winery for aging and solera wines located originally in the city of Málaga.
From 1977 to 1993, wine was sold in bulk to various wineries in the province. In 1993, as a result of the initiative and intensive work of SCAAVO, Andalusian Agricultural Cooperative Society Virgen de la Oliva, and its partners, Bodegas Carpe Diem was created and the first bottled wines were launched into the market under the variants Gadea Red, Montespejo Young White, and the Carpe Diem brand.
SCAAVO is one of the most emblematic wineries in the Antequera region, located in the province of Málaga. It has five sections: Viticulture, Dressing, Olive Oil Mill, Supplies, and Credit.
With over 40 years of experience in the cultivation and production of various grape and olive varieties, SCAAVO has consolidated its position in the wine and olive oil sector, becoming one of the largest wine and oil marketers in Andalusia, with exports to the European and American markets.
Bodegas Carpe Diem offers an exquisite variety of wines under two designations of origin: D.O.P. Málaga, for naturally sweet wines and liqueur wines, such as Carpe Diem; and D.O.P. Sierras de Málaga, for white, red, and rosé wines, such as Montespejo.
The winery covers an area of 20,000 m2 and has a capacity for 5,040,000 liters for red, white, and sweet wines, with a capacity of 250,000 liters for wines aged in American and French oak barrels.
Our vineyards are located at an altitude of 500 meters in the region, which favors the cultivation and ripening of the grapes thanks to the continental climate with an average annual rainfall of 500 liters. These conditions provide excellent quality grapes, which are harvested once they reach optimal ripeness. It is a process carried out entirely by hand, ensuring that we obtain the grapes in the best condition and highest quality.
